William P. Chandler's Obituary
William P Chandler, Age 90, Episcopalian for life. Faithful choir singer and member of:
Saint Martin's Episcopal Church, Chagrin Falls, Oh 44022
He always made you feel special. His eternal optimism is an unstoppable force. Always a devoted and tender parent, he took great pride in his son and daughters as people, not just in their accomplishments. His love and support are unconditional. He taught his children many things, including how to ride, shoe and whisper to horses, play chess and poker, golf, paint, build things, do math in your head, operate an outboard, rig a spinning rod and fishing lure, find and catch a lake trout, shoot a rifle, play ping pong (did he let Jim win?), and enjoy the moment. Each child knew he was their biggest fan.
Serving during the Korean War, Bill was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and holder of the National Defense Service Medal. After the Army, he applied his chemical engineering degree from MIT wisely in the oil and industrial control industries. He travelled the world and once negotiated the recovery of a multi-million dollar write-off from a communist country.
He loved and leaves behind:
his four children: Lisa Heenan, Jim, Stephanie, and Sara
his brother and best friend James “Jay” Chandler, sister in-law Fleur, and niece Jenny;
six grandchildren: Elisabeth, Melissa, Carly, Conor, Stephen and Joseph;
six great-grandchildren;
Isabel,
Youngsun;
Daughter in-law Michelle Chandler;
Daughter in-law Musette Vincent;
Son in-law Cathal Power;
among so many other friends and family who cherished his presence in their lives!
He loved countless horses and dogs, including Wanda, whom he met at Rescue Village, and has now joined in heaven. To honor his love and adoration of animals and family, we would appreciate a donation in Bill’s memory to Rescue Village, Geauga Humane Society. https://www.rescuevillage.org/donate/
