I've spent days thinking about what to say or how to say it. Even now I'm no closer to finding something that makes sense - which Lee would probably laugh at while making a joke about "you English major people."
Lee was a remarkable friend. My whole family is better for knowing him. When my wife and I found out that we were having a baby, Lee looked at me and somehow saw the wild near atavistic terror of first-time fatherhood in my eyes. He gave me a half smile when we were away from Paula and Lindsey and Trev and just said "You'll do fine. Everyone messes up. Everyone. Just do it."
The advice was so totally him that it didn't really resonate at the moment. "You'll do fine. Everyone messes up. Everyone. Just do it." Simple words with an understated wisdom. I'll carry that for the rest of my life.
Our sympathies,
Shane, Lindsey and Asher Fliger
