Doug Delfeld's Obituary
Doug Delfeld was born in Buffalo NY on February 5, 1944 and was 76 when he passed from death to ETERNAL LIFE WITH CHRIST on November 16, 2020. He is more alive now than ever before. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and William Delfeld, and his sister Gail S. Delfeld.
He was Father to ALEXIS and EDDIE, and Dad to BENJAMIN and BRETT. He adored his nieces Kimberlee, Kristin, Katy, and their families, and embraced his role as Grandpa Doug to Alec, Ally, and Avyanna.
Doug and his beloved wife Allison entered into a holy covenant of marriage in 2008. She called him "Sweet Prince" and Doug called her "Mi Princesa Dulce."
Doug loved his life as a Restaurateur in Madrid, Spain, Hollywood & Los Angeles California and he continued catering throughout his life. Lifelong friendships were forged during those years. Yes, his passion was the culinary arts and adventure! He would eagerly cook and pair wine for you and then talk incessantly about The Camino de Santiago (The Way of Saint James) because he wanted you to experience the same joy, excitement and accomplishment that he, Allison, his friends, and others had as a pilgrim on this trek. And then he would want to cook again for you so he could hear your stories.
When he returned to Cleveland in 2002 to be near his family, his life changed dramatically when he entered into a permanent relationship with his Heavenly Father. Doug knew this was the most important decision of his entire life. More than ever, he lived to serve others through international and local mission trips, disaster relief efforts, and doing whatever was needed for friends as well as strangers. In all he did he made sure that the glory went to God alone and not to himself. He is already sorely missed, but will never be forgotten, because of the love and care he had for others.
With a heavy heart Allison will continue having adventures and serving in his name... but as for cooking, well it will never be the same.
