William Proweller Ph.D.'s Obituary
In loving memory of William Proweller, 88, who passed away peacefully on Monday, July 23, 2018 in Beachwood, Ohio. William enjoyed a long career as a Professor of Art History at the State University of New York- Fredonia, touching the lives of countless students, colleagues, and friends. Beyond his talents in the classroom, William was a professional artist, poet, literary critic, classical music lover, and antique collector. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, William was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Slavin Proweller, their first child, Maxim Proweller, and his sister, Marion Karnett. He is survived by his daughter, Amira Proweller and son, Aaron Proweller (Diana Ramirez); granddaughters, Amelia and Talia Proweller; brother, Jerome Proweller; and several nieces and nephews. Dr. Proweller was a U. S. Army veteran, serving from 1954-1962. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, act.alz.org/donate.
