Mark Frankel's Obituary
Mark Frankel, 96, passed away August 26, 2019. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Shirley (nee Silverman); father of the late Holly Gertman and of Nancy (Andrew) Halbert and Marcy (Dennis) Schwartz; grandfather of Daniel (Amy) Charney, Jonathan (Jayme) Charney, Rachel Meyer, Asher Halbert and Lydia Halbert; Great-grandfather of Matthew, Annabella, Brayden and Samantha Charney; Brother of Donald and Burt (Rita) Frankel.
Proud U. S. Army combat veteran of WWII, having been awarded the Purple Heart. Following the war, Mark earned a law degree from Western Reserve University, and went on to own a chain of local five and dime retail stores, where he employed and befriended many.
Mark enjoyed traveling with Shirley and their friends, spending time with his grandchildren and watching Cleveland sports teams.
ALL SERVICES PRIVATE. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 1, 2019 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at the home of Daniel and Amy Charney, 32655 Wintergreen Drive, Solon, Ohio 44139. Memorial donations suggested to the Holly B. Gertman Fund at The Gathering Place.
