Leonard Shapiro's Obituary
Leonard Shapiro, 83, died August 19, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Reisha (nee Leavitt); children Michael of Portland, OR, Natalie Shapiro (Francis Corrigan) of Solon, OH and Kim (James) Price of Lake Worth, FL; grandchildren Shannon Corrigan, Sgt. Daniel Corrigan, USMC and David Corrigan. He is pre-deceased by his parents Max and Anna (nee Berkowitz) Shapiro and siblings Marvin, Aaron and Sylvia. Born on March 7, 1930, Leonard graduated from Glenville High School in 1948 and the Case Institute of Technology in 1952. His first job at the age of 12 was in a local drugstore, where he worked while attending college. He was an engineer for 17 years before starting his own accounting business, which he ran for more than 30 years. He was a member of the University Heights Masons. Leonard was a gentle and wise man with a quick wit and a story or joke to guide his family and clients. His biggest asset was his compassion for his family and his clients, many of whom he considered to be family. He was very proud to have built his accounting practice from nothing and he "never advertised". It grew and grew for more than 30 years. He would use humor and a smile to create bonds with people and win them over. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association-GRA, P. O. Box 163549, Columbus, OH 43216-3549.
