Joel Robins' Obituary
With deep love and sorrow, we remember Joel, whose spirit departed from us on September 16, 2024. Joel, a beacon of unwavering friendship and kindness, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Husband to Marla and son of Edward and Helene, he is survived by Marla, his brother Michael, his sister Shari, her wife Hannah and their children Eliana and Odelya.
Joel lived his life with a deep sense of tzedek (righteousness), tikun olam (repairing the world) and the giving of tzedakah, his righteous obligation to help others and bring justice to the world. He sought positions that enabled him to help others, especially the elderly and animals. He received an advanced degree in long term care administration and served as an administrator at several facilities in Virginia, Maryland and Ohio. He also was a dedicated volunteer to organizations and charities. Though he faced many health issues, his generous spirit and commitment to tzedek, tzedakah and tikun olam remained strong.
Joel was also a world traveler which brought him great joy. He traveled to all 50 states and multiple countries. He most enjoyed exploring and seeing how other people lived.
For those moved to honor Joel’s legacy, donations to the following organizations will sustain his commitment to helping others, a testament to the boundless kindness he shared with the world:
- Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary @happytrailsfarm.org
- Humane Society of Summit County @summithumane.org
- United Ostomy Association of America @ostomy.org
- Habitat for Humanity @habitat.org
We invite all who cherished Joel to join us in a ceremony of remembrance on November 10th where we will share stories, laughter, and tears, just as Joel would have wished. The ceremony will be held at Aloft Cleveland Beachwood hotel from 1 - 5 pm.
