When I saw Bobbi's obituary in the Plain Dealer today, the first thing I remembered about her was her fearless, adventuresome spirit and the way she exemplified it by taking on the intimidating challenges of an Outward Bound program. It was meaningful to me that her family noted the Sun Press article about her Outward Bound feat because I was the reporter who wrote it. Though Bobbi went to Heights and I went to Glenville, we belonged to the same high school "sorority" that met on Friday nights. After graduation and college, I lost track of Bobbi, but years later our friendship was renewed when our AST sorority held a reunion. Then, after Bobbi accomplished her Outward Bound adventure, she told me about it and I was so impressed that I thought it merited a story. We remained in touch for a while as I remember visiting her at her Kenyon Road home. About that time another of our AST high school friends was quite down on her luck and Bobbi and I worked together to help her get her life back on track. As her obituary stated, Bobbi didn't suffer fools gladly, but she had a big heart and an upbeat spirit. Others who crossed her path admired her courage and determination to rise above challenges and move on with her life. As I look at the picture of her on this page, I see the same Bobbi Levenson (except for white hair) that I knew in high school. And I suspect she never really changed in her positive spirit either. My deepest sympathy to her family.
